The following error “no input signal or signal is unclear” is a common problem when you first start using the easycap.
This message comes up after everything is connected and the drivers are loaded your trying to capture some video with the Ulead software, but there is no picture is on the display.
I initially had the same problem when i connected up my VCR to transfer some VHS videos, I thought i had the right cable SCART to COMPOSITE VIDEO, which seemed like it should work, but this cable was for VIDEO IN, I needed SCART to COMPOSITE VIDEO OUT, i quickly purchased a SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter which has input/output switchable, Once this was connected the Ulead software picked up the signal.

Would this work with the xbox 360 by any chance?

I have the same problem but the solution dosn’t work for me – still switching “inoput/output” but can’t get the signal.
Does Ulead show you a preview of the signal before capturing? or have I to test tryng each time to capture?
thank you

many thanks for your info on the No input signal or signal is unclear. I tried for a full day getting a picture on my computer before going to the shop and replacing my rca to scart lead with one that had a switchable input/output as the origianl lead did not have the switch. when I connected it and switched to out then it worked immediately and my software and computer was able to pick up the vide signal. thanks so much for your post as there was no help in the help pages of my software that referred to this important piece of information.
December 27th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Thank you very much – with your hint I could now connect my VHS player to my notebook and see the video.

“This message comes up after everything is connected and the drivers are loaded your trying to capture some video with the Ulead software, but there is no picture is on the display.”
When you mention the “display”, is that a picture appearing on the computer screen or the tv screen?
Can I just hook up the easycap to the VCR to transfer video to the computer? Or do I need a television monitor?
Thank you.

this error message pops up when i am using it to record from my camcorder
what is the alternative for the camcorder since it doesnt have a scart output
August 8th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Thanks!! This helped me get picture to my capture program. I had no idea that ordinary SCARTs can’t handle output.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the sound to work… :-\

Can anyone help me, please. I purchased an EasyCAP video adapter (Model DC60, Version 2.1c) for the simple transfer of VCR tapes to DVD. The USB device has “LINDY” as a brand name on it. It was delivered with Ulead Video Studio 8.0. I have to use a laptop to connect to the VCR and it runs Vista. To the best of my knowledge all the software installed OK. I connected it to the VCR (via the yellow, red and white plugs to the “VIDEO OUT” sockets). It all seems to be recognised in the video import software but I get the same message “No input signal….” and I cannot see any video in the picture pane. I have downloaded and installed a new STK1160 Driver and still no luck. I am not particularly tech savvy, but am not a complete idiot. I suspect I am missing something really simple. Can anyone help me, please?

no input signal or signal is unclear problem, the SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter solution. Both the eaycap adapter and the SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter have female connectors, so how do you connect the adapters?
September 27th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
I’m trying to use it from my xbox 360 to laptop and I’ve got this message – I tried my PS2 scart thing that looks just like the one in the picute but it still won’t work.

hi im trying to connect the easycap tp my xbox and i installed the ulead software connected the phono plugs to the phono sockets on the easycap hardware and then when i click capture this message appears .
help would much appreciated
December 23rd, 2009 at 7:45 pm
The SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter that you are recommending to use with the EasyCap has female terminations. The EasyCap also has female terminations. The two would not connect. Am I missing something here?

Bjr, j’ai du acheter le SVSH adaptater pour capter l’image, mais je n’arrive pas a avoir de son. Pouvez-vous m’aider ?
January 24th, 2010 at 9:26 pm
I found my easycap would not show a picture at first. Then I tried different red/yellow/white leads, and also a different scart plug. In the end I used a lead I bought with a scart one end and red/yellow/white plugs the other end. It worked! So my info for you still with problems is try different leads before blaming the easycap. I had to try several different leads before I found a good set!
January 26th, 2010 at 1:11 pm
i have tried the easy cap with all the different adapters i have even borrowed a vhs player with with the right video connections (not needing the scart) and the esay cap still does not work, i have tried the supplied software along with my pinnacle studio 12 software(pinnacle movie box does not recognize scart adapters, they even admit this on there site i just use it for my cam) and the easycap still does not recognize the vhs player, these easy caps are a con along with the rest of the video capture devices ,luckily i got a full refund

hi! i also have the same problems, the software is installed, all adapters are connected correctly (i think), the scart adapter can be switched in/out, but the laptop (vista 32bit) still does not get any signal from the vhs. when i connect them, a usb-sign is shown in the task bar for a second, but disappear at once. did anybody find a solution in the meantime? thanks

It comes up with this:
ERROR during capture, error code=000000
Any ideas?

Hi,
I got DC60, Vista 64bit.
I’ve tried connecting my PS2 (NTSC) (cart to USB, and Yellow,Red & White to PS2 cable).
The video went smooth on Ulead, but I had bad audio issues which I fixed with a 3.5 mm audio cable & RCA X2 plugged into my microphone outlet.
Now that audio is working great, when trying to capture, I get the “No Signal” error which results only the video getting captured.
I did went to Options and then to the Input Source, but I was unable to pick either Video Composite’ or ‘Video S-video’ like I read somewhere, the Input Source option is just unreachable.
Please help. Thanks!

I’m in the States trying to use a PV-A208 as a streaming cam via the EasyCap DC60 and getting the “no input signal or signal is unclear” message. I’ve tried everything I’ve seen posted. The output cable on the camera is a 2-wire miniplug to red/white RCA, which I’ve plugged into the EasyCap. All software “sees” the camera, but I still get the same error. The camera streams fine through my digital projector.
July 25th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
I was wondering if you are doing this, do you have to connect the vcr to a tv, or can you do it without a tv, and just hook the easy cap up to the vcr, WITHOUT THE TV???
July 29th, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Thanks, ordered the switched adapter for scart and it solved the problem for me too. cost only £1.50 off ebay.
August 30th, 2010 at 8:37 pm
HAS ANYONE EVER CONSIDERED THAT YOUR COOL EASYCUP DEVICE MAY BE DEAD? ONES I BOUGHT A USB HUB ON EBAY AND LED LIGHT WORKED BUT HUB DIDN’T!
NOW I BOUGHT AN EASYCAP, INSALLED IT AND USED IT WITH S-VIDEO CABLE AND PANASONIC DV CAMERA FOR APROXIMATLY 30 MIN. AFTER THAT THE BLANK SCREEN CAME ISTEAD OF VIDEO STREEM. I THINK SOME CHIP INSIDE THE DONGLE IS VERY SENSETIVE AND OVER HEATED OR JUST POUR QUALITY!!!
September 6th, 2010 at 12:31 am
Just bought the easycap and got very frustrated cos i cudnt get constant connection. Removed the usb extension provided and worked but gives message no input signal or signal unclear. Just record anyway and seems to work!
September 18th, 2010 at 5:51 pm
Thank you very much for this advice. I was about to toss my video player and EasyCap into the bin, until I read your blog.

Laurence

Hi
How did you connect the SVideo lead to the adapter (both being same connection) do I need an adapter for that?
Cheers
January 10th, 2011 at 8:15 pm
I think we all have to accept we have been conned, the cap does not work. My pc says there is no signal work but if I connect to my tv scart its working. Serves us right for buying off Ebay. Just BIN IT
January 10th, 2011 at 8:17 pm
Ive been working on this for the last 18 hours. Total Crap
January 12th, 2011 at 10:18 am
Total Crap,I tried everything still does not work. It’s just as well it’s a small item, wont take up a lot of room in the rubbish bin!
January 12th, 2011 at 12:38 pm
Shows how easy it is to scam people out of money. Sell a cheapo item over the net knowing it will not work. The person running this SCAM surely knows what they are doing. The item is cheapo and will sell many. People will not demand a return of their money or even bother to report this scam. Hence the people selling are laughing all the way to the bank.
January 15th, 2011 at 7:57 pm
I also appear to have female sockets on the Easycap, and female connectors on the scart OUT adapter I have bought. Naturally they cannot connect.
I have tried using the composite cable from my Sony Handycam which has male composite plugs, into the Easycams female sockets but that doesnt work.
I have so far wasted 4 weeks trying to capture video and the respose from the vendor regarding my probs just suggests I find more connectors.
Useless!!
February 19th, 2011 at 5:43 pm
I have the same problem,
I have the right driver for my system, And using the Input/Output switch block….
I have that one in a scart on my tv, select output and put the cables in the easycap, When you have TVSCREEN, and you put a output to the easycap, you should get a screen , am i right? The only thing what the Easycap can pick up is my Digital tv channel! And no xbox screen….
I have been busy with it for 2 weeks, bought other cables, other connectors….
Nothing works….
Just hate that Easycap..
February 19th, 2011 at 7:02 pm
it is crap. female sockets are outdated.
February 19th, 2011 at 7:03 pm
oh really?
February 19th, 2011 at 7:03 pm
yeah! what u gonna do about it – MARTIN
February 19th, 2011 at 7:04 pm
nothing..
February 19th, 2011 at 7:04 pm
ha
February 22nd, 2011 at 8:02 pm
Here is the solution:
For those in North America (NTSC format) you need to go to the “Options” below “Capture” field. Change “Input Source” to “Video Composite”, then change “TV System” to NTSC. That should solve your problem.
May 13th, 2011 at 10:04 pm
whoever thought up the name ‘EasyCap’, wasn’t the same person who developed this product. I did get it to work after a nightmare of farting about with cablesw and configuring software, but it isn’t working now and I’m back to square one. grrrrr.
June 3rd, 2011 at 7:36 pm
I inserted the audio plug (the white one) up my anus to see if that helped.. It didn’t.
July 10th, 2011 at 11:09 pm
That’s very useful, I’ll be buting the appropriate input / output scart adapter tomorrow to get those old VHS tapes recorded. I also hoped to use the easycap to convert my old LP’s into MP3 files, which doesn’t seem to be working. Can it be used for this? Any add-on software needed?
July 14th, 2011 at 7:25 pm
No fix until now
…
That’s soo frustrating …

September 13th, 2011 at 12:11 pm
Doesnt work for me with the adaptor or anything, even using xp 32 bit to be on the safe side. Driver installs and ulead picks ups the USB grabber but message about no input or unclear still comes up. Anyone got any ideas?? EasyCap my arse. Following on from Horace Cooper’s comment I also tried the red n yellow plugs in various combinations up my arse. Still no luck, but i did get the most satisfaction I’ve had with EasyCap since purchasing.
September 13th, 2011 at 12:16 pm
Good forum. No one has explained how they’ve solved their problem.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:15 pm

Si tienen tiempo libre y no saben como utilizarlo, comprense una capturadora easy cap y estaran entretenidos.
