The following error “no input signal or signal is unclear” is a common problem when you first start using the easycap.
This message comes up after everything is connected and the drivers are loaded your trying to capture some video with the Ulead software, but there is no picture is on the display.
I initially had the same problem when i connected up my VCR to transfer some VHS videos, I thought i had the right cable SCART to COMPOSITE VIDEO, which seemed like it should work, but this cable was for VIDEO IN, I needed SCART to COMPOSITE VIDEO OUT, i quickly purchased a SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter which has input/output switchable, Once this was connected the Ulead software picked up the signal.

I have the same problem but the solution dosn’t work for me – still switching “inoput/output” but can’t get the signal.
Does Ulead show you a preview of the signal before capturing? or have I to test tryng each time to capture?
thank you

many thanks for your info on the No input signal or signal is unclear. I tried for a full day getting a picture on my computer before going to the shop and replacing my rca to scart lead with one that had a switchable input/output as the origianl lead did not have the switch. when I connected it and switched to out then it worked immediately and my software and computer was able to pick up the vide signal. thanks so much for your post as there was no help in the help pages of my software that referred to this important piece of information.

Thank you very much – with your hint I could now connect my VHS player to my notebook and see the video.

“This message comes up after everything is connected and the drivers are loaded your trying to capture some video with the Ulead software, but there is no picture is on the display.”
When you mention the “display”, is that a picture appearing on the computer screen or the tv screen?
Can I just hook up the easycap to the VCR to transfer video to the computer? Or do I need a television monitor?
Thank you.

this error message pops up when i am using it to record from my camcorder
what is the alternative for the camcorder since it doesnt have a scart output

Thanks!! This helped me get picture to my capture program. I had no idea that ordinary SCARTs can’t handle output.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the sound to work… :-\

Can anyone help me, please. I purchased an EasyCAP video adapter (Model DC60, Version 2.1c) for the simple transfer of VCR tapes to DVD. The USB device has “LINDY” as a brand name on it. It was delivered with Ulead Video Studio 8.0. I have to use a laptop to connect to the VCR and it runs Vista. To the best of my knowledge all the software installed OK. I connected it to the VCR (via the yellow, red and white plugs to the “VIDEO OUT” sockets). It all seems to be recognised in the video import software but I get the same message “No input signal….” and I cannot see any video in the picture pane. I have downloaded and installed a new STK1160 Driver and still no luck. I am not particularly tech savvy, but am not a complete idiot. I suspect I am missing something really simple. Can anyone help me, please?

no input signal or signal is unclear problem, the SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter solution. Both the eaycap adapter and the SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter have female connectors, so how do you connect the adapters?

I’m trying to use it from my xbox 360 to laptop and I’ve got this message – I tried my PS2 scart thing that looks just like the one in the picute but it still won’t work.

The SCART to Phono + SVHS Adapter that you are recommending to use with the EasyCap has female terminations. The EasyCap also has female terminations. The two would not connect. Am I missing something here?

I found my easycap would not show a picture at first. Then I tried different red/yellow/white leads, and also a different scart plug. In the end I used a lead I bought with a scart one end and red/yellow/white plugs the other end. It worked! So my info for you still with problems is try different leads before blaming the easycap. I had to try several different leads before I found a good set!

i have tried the easy cap with all the different adapters i have even borrowed a vhs player with with the right video connections (not needing the scart) and the esay cap still does not work, i have tried the supplied software along with my pinnacle studio 12 software(pinnacle movie box does not recognize scart adapters, they even admit this on there site i just use it for my cam) and the easycap still does not recognize the vhs player, these easy caps are a con along with the rest of the video capture devices ,luckily i got a full refund

hi! i also have the same problems, the software is installed, all adapters are connected correctly (i think), the scart adapter can be switched in/out, but the laptop (vista 32bit) still does not get any signal from the vhs. when i connect them, a usb-sign is shown in the task bar for a second, but disappear at once. did anybody find a solution in the meantime? thanks
